Dawn to Dusk

Oh summer vacations .Every year I can't wait for summer vacations, but I never learn. They always end up as boring and immensely dull. So, this poem describes my day and my thoughts during the summer vacations, from the moment I wake up till the moment I sleep. Don't be alarmed, I am not always this lazy, this poem makes up about one-thirds of my summer vacation. So here it goes, enjoy :).

Dawn To Dusk

Eyes blurring, mind concentrating,
suddenly I think, no more procrastinating!

I avert my eyess to the time,
all my passionate, yet temporary, ambitions sublime.

The conscience whispers,"you can catch sleep for another hour or two",
the heart cries, "No!" The brain says, "we're through!"

But I am already asleep,
being nothing more than a lazy, useless heap.

Before noon I rise from my slumber,
"who am I? What am I?" I try to remember.

Abandoning my philosophy,
from the clutches of my bed I try to break free.

The stairs I descend,
and the meal of breakfast I attend.

Then a whispering voice I hear,
so sweet, to deny it I can not possibly bear.

Oh! It is that constraining P.C,
it strangles me, it crushes me.

I am forced into submission by this abominable beast,
for it, I am just an every day feast.

I turn it on,
just to become an unproductive pawn.

Some websites I surf, some games I play,
time passes, and so the whole day.

I watch episodes into the night,
spend the whole night, I might.

Wearily, a few hours before dawn,
with all my will I shut it down, all my energy already gone.

I dump myself onto the bed,
my eyes drooping like they're full of lead

Tomorrow is going to be different, I think, It's going to be more productive,
But alas, it's just a broken promise, I know I'll never be constructive.

So these are my summer hours of laze,
But at the end I love these days.

This sums up my summer vacations :D

Operation D.E.A.T.H (part 2)

The class erupted into cheers of joy. In words their happiness can not, absolutely, be described.I can just say that it was absolutely wonderful.

Continued:
I had made a fatal mistake but I had no inkling of my fate. If there is one thing I've learnt about life is that fate has a sense of humor. A cruel sense of humor. This was something I had learnt standing in this very classroom. That would happen shortly afterwards.

The children had quickly attempted their ten MCQs and were lollygagging around when suddenly the door opened, out of instinct the children scrambled to their chairs. Two authoritative men emerged from the door. Their presence was enough to silence the whole class. The first man had jet, black hair, black shades and he wore a suit with a tie he looked younger than the other man. He walked with firm steps and observed the students. He had seen the children in their unusual freedom. The second man was dressed in the exact same manner but his hair was lined with white.

I suddenly realized that, they were from the board of education.Which made my heart speed up.They walked to the front of the class. Their presence was like iron, strong and grey. The first man regarded me and said,"I was under the impression that the students were undergoing examinations."

"Yes they are, or were, actually but the students ha-have done exceptionally well and finished before the time limit." I nervously replied.

"Which examination was today?"

"Ma-mathematics."

"I see." Came the obstinate reply.

He now addressed one of the students "Can you multiply?"

"Of course!" The student proudly declared.

"Ok, what is twelve times seven."

"Seventy-four!"

A cry of  dismay rose from the students.

"Seventy-five?" He tried yet again, but was silenced with a highly radioactive look from the second man.

Both men looked ready to blow a thunderstorm, Zeus style. One of them opened his mouth, but no words came out. His mouth looked black and endless as a void. The really strange thing was that his mouth began to grow no, expand. his mouth began to expand. It expanded until it enveloped me in its darkness. I felt my eyes opening. Funny, I didn't remember closing them. When my eyes opened I found myself in bed. I got up and then I realized it was all a dream. I heaved a huge sigh of relief. It was all a dream, or was it? I thought. It had all seemed so real, so vivid. With much difficulty I brought myself back to the present.

Deep in thought, I got ready for school and then I remembered today was my Exam. I prepared myself for any initial black-outs. When I reached my school I began to realize something was wrong because our teacher was telling us about a plan.... A very familiar plan.

"I'll call it Operation: Disastrous Examinations Annihilated by the Teacher of Harmony, or Operation D.E.A.T.H for short!" The teacher finished.

This was met by cheers and applause by the rest of the students and a groan by me. My dream had been a vision!! As the papers were distributed I suddenly emitted a screech , much like that of a beaten up cat, only more human. All the students and the teacher looked at me. I fell to the floor and clutched my stomach. The teacher cautiously walked over to me and said, "What's wrong?"

"Queasy stomach." Came the meek reply.

"Do you want to go home?" He asked.

"Yeah." I said.

"You'll be missing on a lot of fun." He said.

I just replied with a groan, I must say it was very convincing, well I had been practicing them. Some minutes later I was on my way home. I  had no inkling of what was going on. But I saw a car on the way, only three words were inscribed on the number plate: Board Of Education.

The End
